Yesterday someone made a comment that Manny is a terrible fielder and they went on and on about how they hated him. Last nights game Manny did his thing once again and HAD FUN DOING IT. His record in the post season is amazing. I rather have him than AROD, who a bust in the playoffs. And by the way, two great plays out in left last night. Nobody has more fun that Manny playing the game and thats why Red Sox fans love him.

Gagne has got to be the worst trade ever. I get sick when he comes in. Even with a 7 run lead.

I'm a HUGE Red Sox fan. I love baseball, it's my favorite sport and the BoSox are my favorite team.
Manny is an amazing player and fielder. Like you said, he has FUN doing what he does. He enjoys it and is actually one of our best players...He hits runs and scores for us.
Last nights game was a fun one to watch by the way.. even though I wanted to KILLLLL Gagne at the end of the game with the bases loaded.. GRRR. He's so lucky he struck him out with 3-2 and the bases loaded. Good game!!!!

Manny is an average fielder- not terribly fast-footed, and he is notorious for not always making his best effort to make a play, and making a bone-headed throw or two. This has been his deal since his Cleveland days, and he has never been a 5-tool player. One thing he does do very well is play in his current home field- no one plays the carom off the Green Monster At Fenway as well.

However, for every great play he makes, he seems to screw up an easy play or miss a cutoff man at least 10-15 times a year, and he often doesn't make the effort on some easy plays, or makes the easy ones look harder because of his lazy effort at times. His offensive numbers usually make up for these gaffes, but personally, I think he would frustrate the crap out of me if I were his manager or teammate.

As far as "Manny being Manny" goes, if Sox fans want to condone his weirdness and often infantile behavior with that phrase, so be it. I think he has more than a few screws loose, and should clean up his act, but the numbers don't lie- he is an offensive machine.

It's not that he is a terrible fielder. He is right up there with the rest of his team. The issue is that Boston does not have a team that is known for being fast on thier feet. They are a hitting team and they demonstrated that last night. One example is how long/bushy the outfield grass is. This slows the ball down so that it can be fielded by players who are not quick on thier feet. One thing is for sure, Manny makes up in batting for any slacking in fielding.

Manny makes the very hard plays but doesnt make some of the routine plays and thats whats very confusing about Manny.

Manny is the most beloved baseball player in history next to Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth. He just has that feeling about him. That 'Manny Being Manny' feeling.

on account which you won't be able to bench a brilliant participant like Youklis and Ortiz won't be able to play protection to shop his life. And with considered one of those short left container all manny had to do grow to be play "honest" protection and play the ball reliable off the wall which he did.

Yes i did not like the gagne trade either because why did we need him ?? To blow games?? i thought we wanted to win games!!
seriously you get players to improve something that needed to be fixed but well we had the best bullpen in MLB when he came on board! However he has improved lately so maybe hell come through in the postseason for us!!!!

Those people know nothing about baseball, and I'm willing to bet have never watched Manny play - unless you count SportsCenter.
