Ok you took him to be seen that's good... Now yes you should be giving your baby pedilyte, but I would give it to him as often as he would drink it. It helps replace fluids he has lost. You can also try feeding him the BRAT diet .. That is Bananas, Rice, applesauce and toast. Those are easy to digest and won't upset his tummy. I would not for awhile give him any milk to drink. that can cause diarrhea also if stomach is upset. If not better in a couple days I would take him to the ER.. Good luck mom.

I have a niece who just turned 3 and she has had diarrhea for a few days now and the doctor told my sister the same thing the doctor told you. Sometimes around this time of year, kids and babies get sick with diarrhea, sniffles and other things. I think it is a good idea not to give your baby anything to stop the diarrhea because it is a way (sometimes) to get nasty things out of your body. I have 5 children including a 23 month old son, and I have been through this numerous times. But continue to give him the pedialyte because it will help him with electrolyte and nutrient loss. Another thing is how your child is acting. Is he acting sick? Does he have a fever? If not I suggest you follow the docs orders and if he isn't better in a couple of days, then maybe you should be concerned. But from my experience, when my children got diarrhea even when it was a virus, it always goes away on it's own. I know how you feel as I am a concerned mother also. I hope this helps.

Four days is a long time for diarrhea in a little guy. Is he peeing? Do his eyes appear dry? Is he able to cry real tears? Do his mucus membranes appear dry, Are his lips cracking? When you pinch up a bit of skin on the back of his hand does it snap back immediately? Is he drinking other things like ginger ale or apple juice? Is he playing or just wanted to lay around and sleep? Does he have a temperature above 99 or below 96?Those things are important to convey to his doctor. Try bananas, applesauce, rice and toast, and plain popsicles. All of those things can help with diarrhea symptoms. If he exhibits any of those symptoms and the answer is not what you would feel is normal, then you need to get him back to the pediatrician pronto!!!

Yes, there is some reason he has diarrhea. He will get dehydrated very quickly. Be sure and give him lots of liquids. I would call the urgent care place and tell them what they prescribed isn't working. Or take him to the ER. Do something!

Diarrhea is'nt something anyone could handle with kids gloves especially for a baby that young. Don't even think of self medicating so you wont be sorry. Consult a paediatrician with immediate effects but start administering ORT right away (salt sugar solution you can either do it your self or buy the ready to use sachet sold in the chemist) But please hurry and see a peadiatrician

Get him to the doctor today its gone on for to long and he doesn't have any nutrients left in his body and he should be badly dehydrated by now. And pedialite is on re-call as something is very wrong with it I didn't really listen to the news cast when they talked about 2 days ago (sorry I don't have little ones, mines grown).

are you breastfeeding, or giving him chemically formulated stuff? Yes, I know, breastfeeding at 23 months is considered child abuse. Still, the best food is breastmilk, and it will help. Also consider that recently most baby/infant cold and sickness remedies have just been taken off the market for a reason! Don't use them!

Babies dehydrate quickly...if his skin is warm and dry or he appears listless I'd not wait, but take him into ER at once. If he is acting normal and feels normal, has normal output of urine, I'd continue giving him things to drink, limit sugar, add cheese, rice and other things to help "bind" him up a little.

As a mother of two, my best advise: when your gut instinct tells you that things are not as they should be, seek help at once - I'd rather be told it is nothing than be told I should have done something sooner. Follow your gut feeling.

KEEP him HYDRATED! very very important! Infants die from diarrhea all the time because they dehydration. He might have a stomach virus or a parasite. Take him back to the ER, 4 day is too long.

Pedilite is supposed to help and when he is hungry he is should have rice and bananas. Do you have access to call a doctor or nurse that's on call? Call them and tell them maybe that can offer suggestions and possibly save you a trip to the ER. Good luck with your little one...
