A spouse that is nagged constantly will eventually become totally deaf to the nagging spouse. Their voice will be tuned out, like traffic and construction noise to a city dweller, or crickets to someone living in the country.

The first stage of this is when the unspoken reaction to the nagging spouse is to ignore whatever it is they want done, because they know that once that task is completed, there will be more. There will always be more. There's just no point in going out of your way to do things they ask, because you'll never get to the end of the list anyway.

A better system to deal with it is to say "Okay, I'll do that, but you go get (whatever it is you need to do the job, be it tools, paint, cat litter) and then I'll do it" or "I'll do that, but I need you to do X."

If you just go ahead and do whatever the nagging spouse demands, you train them to be your supervisor at home.

I have been a nagging spouse and found it hardly ever works. i also have been a nagging mother and that does not work either.

also i have been on the other side of some hard nagging from my own parents about what to do with my kids, life, career, ect. and nagged to death by my husband, when he was alive, for all sorts of schemes. I had to make many compromises. much not to my liking. and then i paid for them later too. so dont be bambozzled!!

i find the best thing to do is "be like the duck"
let it all roll off you like water off a ducks back.
people will say WOW, he really keeps his cool!

if you are the one doing thre nagging and its not working, start yelling instead. or slam a door, this usually works best for kids though. my older daughter is 18 and i have to yell at her everyday. sometimes in note form if our work schedules conflict.

i suggest if you cannot compromise with your nagging spouse, insist on going to see a marital counselor and then she will "wake up " and she you are serious about how much it bothers you.

good luck

All spouses nag (even men). I nag at my wife about my pet peeves and she nags about her stuff. I would tell you what it is but I dont listen just like she does not listen to me.

The trick is to tell her you will do it in a minute, and turn the game up.

i am not so much as a nagger than just a simple reminder.

i can tell when i remind my husband over and over, he just rolls his eyes to the back of his head and say he will get to it in a minute. that minute can turn into a month.

but don't get me wrong, he can be a bit over baring himself, reminding, no nagging me about things to.

i think when you have to constantly keep asking or telling someone something, it is just a cover to something else that is fraustrating the two of us.

communication is key in any successful relationship.

so communicate by keep telling each other what to do.

We do it as sport in our home until we get a cup or spoon thrown across the room. In fact we try to find new and interesting things to nag about. Its all in jest not everyone can do this.

If you're being nagged, why aren't you acknowledging the person the first time? That's disrespectful.
