Smiley George
Written By Semper Fi Reborn
He rode into town,
Said he just passed through Reno.
The sun was at his back,
He was riding a Palamino.
Looking up into the sun,
I could not see his eyes.
But his tone and his speech,
Told me that he was wise.
I knew he was law,
Before I spied his badge.
Texas Ranger it read,
Just like his dad's.
Said he'd been riding lonesome,
For many a day.
He wanted some vittles,
To chase the hunger away.
Asked me next,
Where a man might find grub.
So I turned around,
And pointed straight at the pub.
Thanked me kindly,
Then rode off to get gorged.
Then bring law to town,
Ranger Smiley George.
