They are always on the outside looking in and why is that?

Yes, because those are the kind of people society likes to pick on.
The reason they don't "fit in", is because other people won't let them, not because they don't want too.
People can be so cruel sometimes, I just don't understand it.
So what if these people seem a little different than you think they should be!
That is no reason to not "let them in" and make them feel like they are lower than dirt!
People are just too stuck up today and so in love with themselves, they just don't care about other people anymore.
It's definitely a "ME" world today, and I find that very very sad!! :-(

If they want to fit in and they can't then yeah I feel bad for them but lots of people don't fit in because they just don't want to and I don't feel bad for them they have what they want don't they?
and they are on the outside looking in because as you mentioned they don't fit in..

If you mean the rivalry between nerds and populars, nerds are fine the way they are, and I don't think that a bunch of dumb and boring jerks should be ofending them just because they refuse to be liek them.

I have learned to get over it. Like being the square peg for the round hole.
