Not at all. Dolls have always been beautiful long before barbie came on the scene. Also dolls are for little girls to play with so they cant be too heavy. Come on stop taking the fun out of it. Anyone who wants to look like Barbie has a psychological problem.

I'm also studying this, not Barbie specifically, but the whole negative body image subject in general. Barbie does seem to give us a negative opinion of what we should look like, I don't really see the negative to what we are capable of doing because it seems like Barbie does EVERYTHING. But if you're looking at her physical features, it's such a horrible model to give children. Blond hair, blue eyes, too thin, huge chest, tiny waist, stick thin legs, and that's what we're to consider a normal looking woman?

Barbie began as a clone of a 1950's German doll, called Bild Lilli, Barbie was directly copied from that doll. That mold was never meant to represent a real woman, because the original Lilli doll was made to represent a 1950's cartoon character in the german Bild newspaper . See pictures and details at:

Similar cartoon characers appeared in US newspapers - such as "Blondie" in the vintage Blondie & Dagwood comics.

it has been proven that if barbie was a real person she would have ro crawl on all fours because she is so disportionite. so yes i think it is a negative opinion of what we should look like, it is impossible yet the little girls playing with them want to be just like them, and that is so beyond impossible its sick. what is worse than barbies is the bratz. they dress so skanky and they all have boyfriends and it just sends a message to the young girls that its ok to have a new boyfriend everyweek and all of the things that go with it. personaly i wont let my sister play with bratz, but i allow barbies because at least they were descent clothes and barbie was married to ken...sorry i kind of rambled but i hope i helped!
