You can think of light as being made up of little packets of energy called photons. Like little balls. It doesn't need a medium to travel throught - it's like a ball flying through the air or through space.

Ok that is an incomplete question.

I guess you mean how does light reach us from the stars. Quick answer is Light is a form of radio waves. Radio waves are a form of radiation. Radiation moves outward into areas of lesser radiation. Like a sponge soaking up water, radio waves are like water, and the sponge is like the space around it. Radio waves move through any substance that it can penetrate (the smaller the radio wave, the higher it's ability to pass through more dense material.)

Now I hope this answers your question. But if it does not, then please rephrase your question.

I put things into easy language. The process is actually quite a bit more complex, but this will give you a general idea. Take some Physics classes for a more detailed look into light waves.

Could you be more specific?

Light travels at 186,000 miles per second or 700 million miles per hour (http://unmuseum.mus.pa.us/speed.htm).

As to how it travels, that's a matter of much debate. Some say that light travels in a spiral fashion, cork-screwing onward, which some theorize may be 300 times faster than the straight-line speed above if you count the rotations.

Some say light is a particle, others a wave. No one is entirely sure.

Your question is a bit unclear. I think you are asking about the light's travel. Light travels in straight line. All the objects we see are non luminous ( not creating light from themselves) when a form of light falls on that objects it reaches our eye and form an image. So we see objects. A light ray is a narrow beam of a light ray.

light is a form of energy moving at a certain frequency and in waves though space and time, although their are many opinions on what energy itself is made up of, probably a type of partial (radio waves move the same way only at different frequencies and wave lengths).
Are eyes are able to pick this energy and based on the wave lengths and frequencies are indetifed as a certain colour. Their in fact may be other colours out their we are unable to see.

well light travels everywhere. it doesn't require even a medium.

i dont know how, i think it has something to do with waves or something, but i know it travels really really fast...
