I have twin boys, almost 12wks old. They don't seem to acknowledge each other. Ever. Is this normal? A friend of mine told me that they won't really interact with each other until they're big enough to sit up and play together, but they actually do know each other is there now. How can they not? They were "womb mates", shared a crib until this week, etc.
When will they start to interact?

Yeah, I hoped that having twins would mean they would keep each other company, but that is not the case at first. They will notice each other when they start moving about---in my twins case they were rolling and when they would roll they would see eachother and laugh! Now they are 11 months and crawl around the house pretty much as a unit. They even wait for the each other when one is dragging!

i have twin girls that just tuned 2 last month and as soon as they were able to move their arms in the direction they wanted they started to interact with each other. They still share their crib to nap and go to bed. I don't want to split them up until they are ready to decide for them selves. i think it something they need to do because its so special to have "shared a womb" together to just split them up when they come out. But watch out because not only will the interact but they will fight real bad too. and all you can do is let it be (if they are not being violent towards each other..and yea they do that to)

I have twins who turned two in August. They started to notice each other once they were old enough to play and move around. They know they are twins, I don't think they understand though. BTW, my twins are boy/girl and I'm pregnant with another set!

I am sure that they are aware of one another's presence... they just aren't effected by one another (because they are used to each other). They are too young to play together and don't have any real reason to interact right now. I am sure that if you separated them, you might see a difference in their behavior.

Babies are not social creatures immedately. They will react to others their size when they are a little more mobile. In the beginning they are mostly concerned with entertaining themselves or getting attention from "big" folks. It wont be long and they will be interacting with each other.

dont ask me as you know I dont have twins but I agree with a lot of the other people they probably will notice each other more once they can play together and once they are seperated they probably will throw a fit . other than that heck if I know lol

your friend is definitely correct...they will not start interacting until between 5-7 months when they can start playing together.

These are boys, they are already whispering to each other behind your back. They are making plans how they can sneak out of the house when they are 14 years old. They have the ability to communicate mentally. To make matters worse they are hunting for pennies so they can start to buy playboy's.

I'd believe someone else if I were you!
