I want to know if this symbol * is used in the unit of measure of pound?

I use it for multiplication.

The unit to represent pound is lb. It could be that * also represents pound.

it's the multiplication sign that you use for the calculator that you use on the computer. when you don't want to use the calculator on the screen . the sign is on the computer by the numbers that is not above the letters

usually it means multiply in math, it could also be a notice or w/e and you can usually find one near the bottom of a page or so.....but its more than likely multiply

usually computers accept the asterisk ( * ) as a sign of multiplication instead of an X.
