I have been trying to reinstall windows on my packard bell computer. I have been using a reinstallation cd from a friends dell computer i dont really know how this works anyway i need a product key to activate this my computers product key isnt accepted and neither is the disks-which i used a keyfinder to discover so have i been doing this wrong do i need to get packard bell reinstallation??

As well as contacting PB I would have a look on the Windows site as they have a lot of specific instructions re which product keys are valid these days.

You can try as already suggested in calling packard bell. However, But, another place you might want to try calling is Microsoft. They're able to activate windows installations.. that's provided that you have a genuine copy of Windows. And stay away from the Dell software. You'll never get it going that way.. The computer should inheriantly be telling you that the CD is meant for a Dell and thus would be incompatiable. Hope all that helps.

If you have a packard bell machine then a dell disk will never work as it will have the wrong driver set. You need to get the PB disk

are you using xp or vista? No matter use the torrent sites and they will provide you with a cd key that allows you to crack it thus being able to get the updates you require worked a treat with vista on mine!!

You should call the Microsoft helpdesk and explain the situation. If you have a valid license on the machine they will help you.

look on the back of the pc, there should be one there.
