i would say about 6 months, because by this time they are eating things off the table, using their hands and putting lots of things with germs on them in their mouths, like toys or anything they can lay their hands on. but i would still sterilise them now and again after this time, maybe once every few days

Hello. I was advised to stop sterilising bubs bottles when he started crawling around, because he picks up all the germs off the floor. But i used a microwave steriliser until he was about 1yr. I guess it is up to the parents when to stop but your health nurse can give you the right advise when to stop. All the best.

Ask your doctor. If you have city water, sterilizing bottles isn't even necessary. Just soap and water. If you have well water, it depends on the area. If you do have well water and the doctor has told you to sterilize, generally, you would do it until the baby is almost a year old. It's the bacteria that can grow in the water that is the concern. Sometimes the time of year makes it worse.

For each use about 2 minutes and of course continue doing this the entire time your baby is using bottles.

You should also sterilize pacifiers and certain parts of sippy cups when you make the switch (instructions will be on package.)
