How can I convince my brother and sister in law to NOT name their baby girl, due next month, LOLA. Isnt that just weird? Even kinda stripper-esque? What can I do to change their mind to a more sensible name?
And dont tell me its their baby they can name it what they want. You know its a bad name, so help me out here.

Oh,thats a horrible name!!It sounds trashy and low-class.I have no clue how to convince them to not name it that if they're really wanting it.Maybe you can suggest a different name that sounds kinda like it.Like,Leanna or something.It must be really hard fo you!!Keep tryig!!!!

No! LOL...not in the LEAST stripper-esque and definitely not wierd. In fact its becoming quite a common name. And if you look at the link to a chart below, you will see that it is in incredibly old-fashioned name, so in turn very sensible. Its a variant of Charlotte and its growing in popularity again. Your brother and sister-in-law have chosen a very modern, pretty and cool name.
So chill out and get off their backs because, yes Im going to say it, ITS NOT YOUR BABY! When you give birth one day, then you will have a say but unless you provided the sperm, egg or womb, back the heck off.
EDIT: and I agre with the poster above me...way more strippers named Crystal, Jewel, Chanel...Crystal!

Lola is a cute name. I know what you mean, that it sounds like a stripper. There is a really beautiful movie by Jacques Demy named Lola. If you watched it you would probably like it and change your mind.
There are more stripper-esque names, like Melanie and Tiffany.
And yes, you can call her LeeLee or something.

now if it was going to be named candy or something i would offer help but since i believe lola is a pretty name and as you said it isn't your child then why do you even care about what they name her? you can give her a cute nickname i am sure they won't mind.

I think it's a pretty name. It's not common, and they DO have the right to name their child whatever they want. You have no say and should mind your own business.
Edit: Oh, and it doesn't sound like a "stripper name". CRYSTAL, on the other hand...
See? How do you like it? Leave them alone and let them name THEIR child whatever THEY want.

It's not a bad name, at all. It's pretty, feminine, and it's theirs!
Leave them to it, if you were pregnant and had a name you really liked you wouldn't want your family telling you its a horrible name, so cut it out!!

Whilst I think it's not your decision, Lola is an awful name that sounds cheap and nasty!
