You just have to be sure to take the correct measures to make sure it's rinsed properly. After I rinse my things, I then rinse them in double strength water conditioner (dechlorinator), then I put them out in the sun to dry, as this helps burn off any left over bleach. I then rinse them again before I use them (I make triply sure they are rinsed well!) I've heard that other people just keep rinsing until they don't smell the bleach anymore. I prefer using the double strength dechlorinator though (the stuff that you add to the water to get the chlorine and chloramines out).
E-mail me if you have any other questions if you'd like.
Good luck!! ;o)

How much bleach did you use? I always clean my tanks out with a 20 part water to 1 part bleach solution after a sickness (or when i get new tanks). To get the bleach out I rinse thoroughly with hot water and then fill the tank up with water and 10 times as much dechlorinator. I let that sit for an hour or so and rinse rinse rinse it again and then I squirt some dechlorinator on a rag and wipe down the inside of the tank and set it outside to dry in the son.

Rinse with mildly hot water several times and use a clorine remover each time. I would buy a large clorine remover, fill a sponge with this and wipe down the entire aquarium then fill, empty and repeat. I would do this several times then when you set the tank up leave it for a couple of weeks and the clorine will dissipate. Make sure there is good circulation and surface circulation in the aquarium and you should be fine. Don't use bleach next time. You can boil most things that go into an aquarium and razor blades scrape just about everything off of the glass. There's no reason for bleach.

Vinegar does work but you need to rinse and repeat several times.
Acetic acid is an effective dechlorinator, but unsuitable for use with fish!
Another way is to fill the tank with water and add a dechlorinator like Tap-safe, or Aqua safe (available at local pet outlets or aquarium shops) at twice the strength recommended. leave overnight then empty out.
Then you can start building the tank. Fill and leave for two weeks with a filter running so that the water surface is disturbed.
If you used bleach with the gravel or any plastic plants then rinse several times and put in the tank with the dechlorinated water.
Hope this helps!

Bleach is fine. You can use bleach but you really have to rinse it well. Rinse rinse rinse! There is a vinegar method and you can use that too. But they are both fish safe as long as you rinse it. If you cannot smell any more bleach, then its safe.

The best thing to clean out a tank is what is called sea salt not regular salt - and then rinse it out. the problem with using something like viniger iis that you may get rid of the clorine but then you have to worry how to get rid of the viniger next.

One easy method is to fill the tank with water, and aerate strongly for 24-48 hours. After that, it should be fine, and safe for occupants again. Chemical dechlorinators are inferior to letting the bleach dissipate naturally. The chemicals just add up in the tank...

I know some people have used bleach to clean ornaments but not the tank itseld. If it's an ornament, then it's generally just boling and letting dry. If it's the tank itself, then it would be hard. You would just have to wash and wipe 10 times and make sure there isn't any stuff left.

bleach is chlorine.
Let it set empty for a couple days and it should all evaporate out. Test after filling by puttin a couple cheap fish in and see how long they survive. If more than a couple days, you should be good to go.
