I'm going to assume you are talking about Final Fantasy XI, the MMORPG. No, it's not free. In addition to paying $49.99 (USD) for the game, you have to pay a monthly fee of $12.95. I'm not a big fan of MMORPGs, but all my friends prefer World of Warcraft to Final Fantasy XI.

The Final Fantasy that everyone is playing online now. Sorry I don't remember the number there are just so many of them and I don't really like any Final Fantasy. But two of my friends play it online and firstly, you have to go out and buy it which is about $50. And then it's $12 a month. So no, it's not free.

you have to BUY all the final fantasy games from somewhere, so none of them are free. If you are talking about the online one (ff11) there is a monthly fee. Hope i helped.
