I have a piece of woven tapestry material from a fabric store. Its not finished on any of the edges. I would like to make a tapestry that I can hang. How do I do this?

I always buy some nice fringe for mine.
Or you can turn the edges under and sew it like a hem, or you can make binding (or buy bias binding) to put all around the edge.

If your piece of tapestry material is long enough, fray out about 6 or 8 inches of each end. Count off about 5 to 10 threads, tie an over hand knot using a sharp stick of some sort, ice pick, in the center of the knot up against the edge of the weaving to snug up the knot. Do this all the way across each end.

Do what is called a blanket stitch, run the thread through about half an inch from the edge, bring it up throw a loop to the right and bring the needle up again a quarter inch from the last place having the loop at the edge of the tapestry.

baste a strip of fabric that a wooden dowel will fit through. Put the dowel in, add tassels to the dowel and hang the dowel!!

Have a lot of fun making your tapestry!!
