Yes, I think it is great he won the Nobel Prize. His passion for educating the public about global warming needs to be recognized. So many politicians are trying to hide that global warming is a significant issue. An award of this prestige is necessary to bring recognition of the impact and events already occuring in global warming today. Hopefully, with this attention our country will implement a plan to prevent this destruction.

If, indeed, Gore pioneered the recognition of something that has become "settled science", one might have expected a science Nobel. Or, if the idea ( whether true or not ) has the economic impact that it will have, a Nobel in Economic Science. Perhaps the situation is explained by the fact that these are awarded by committees of experts and the Peace Prize is awarded by hacks who are out to grind a political ax.
By the way, what does Gore's "work" have to do with "Peace"?

Congratultions to Al Gore for highlighting this growing problem.
Most reputable scientists who have studied the data agree that global warming is escalating and is exagerated by human influences.
You only have to see that the NorthWest Passage is open to shipping for the first time in recorded history to see the truth of the matter.
The only people that argue against the fact of global warming are those that have vested interests such as the oil companies, American corporations and the American government.
Wether the effects will be as damaging as some predict is debateable. But caution would be a wise course to take rather than continue in the irresponsible way that we are wasting the planets finite rescources.

Not at all .
He's been exposed by scientists ; even sued by those whose names he used as reference ( without admitting they disagreed with him ) ; and days ago a British court banned Gore's movie from being shown in schools without a warning disclaimer . Gore absolutely refuses to be questioned publicly about any of this . Furthermore , he refused to take his own pledge ; and expects Americans to sacrifice while he uses more energy per month than 20 American Families . Gore is about raising taxes ; keeping a hand in our homes & in our wallets . Gores plans for us would hit the poor the hardest . The man is a hoaxster .Global warming is nothing new ; it's a fact of life . It's funny he didn't drag out this snake oil routine when he was in the Clinton White House . about controlling the public and keeping

I disagree. The Nobel Committee has absolutely no credibility. Previous winners of the Nobel Peace Prize include the murdering terrorist Yassir Arafat. What a group for Al Gore to be a part of!

Perhaps the two most deserving people in modern history to head the U.S. government have been Al Gore and Jimmy Carter. Both went on to outstanding community service works after leaving the White House. Both are deserving of their compassionate, caring, dedicated works that have helped to better this world.
It's prove positive that even a few politicians can actually become decent, honorable, respectable human beings.
Kudos to Al Gore! He ought to run for President, with Jimmy Carter as his running mate! -RKO- 10/13/07

YEAH!!!!!
I havent even had a chance to see the movie yet but have been aware of global warming for some time, and have taken actions against it - including some lifestyle changes..
somebody asked what does it have to do with PEACE? - well when sea levels rise a good many people will be displaced.. thus wars will occur.. so warning us to STOP the whole event from happening is PEACE related.

What a joke. Awarding the Nobel for something unproven, to a lying shyster.
But what can you expect from an outfit that gave one to a known terrorist.
