Fish drink plenty of water, specially sea water fish

As such they can't get thirsty, but they can become dehydrated.

When setting up a marine tank, if the right level of salt is added to the water, then all is well but when too much is added, the salt attacks the cells of the fish and causes them to burst and shrivel up. The effect on the fish is that it mopes and shows little interest in anything and then eventually dies.

In freshwater fish, if levels of ammonia or nitrites in the water are too high, the fish takes too much in and cannot absorb water into its body as easily as normal and so again the fish becomes dehydrated

Freshwater fish don't drink as small as saltwater fish. Saltwater fish only need certain amount of sea water because there is plenty of salt in their system. Freshwater fish need to drink more to replenish their system.

I don't think so. Their mouths are always open in the water.
Why would they get thirsty? If anything, they'd be waterlogged.

I would like to think they can consume the water in their little bowls, but it may not taste very good because it's mixed with all their own waste and urine?
