I've been playing sudoku for awhile now and have the little paperback books of them in all the rooms. Get the 'easy' ones first to practice on, until you build your skill level. I play with a pencil and write each number (very small) at the top of the individual box that could fit in the box.
There are 9 spaces across, 9 down and boxes of 9 spaces within each section. (you'll see this when you look at a puzzle). Numbers are clues and each puzzle already has some numbers filled in. You solve it by having 1 through 9 appear in each row, column and box in each 9 square section, but only once-and in no certain order. You'll find the numbers that might fit and the ones that don't through process of elimanation. I erase the ones that don't fit, eventually you will only have one # left that will fit across, down and within the 9 box square area.
Begin solving it by seeing which #'s are already in each row, column and box, using logic fill in the missing #s. The more you fill in the easier it gets.
It sounds harder than it is and I'm sure someone can explain it better. Basically you just get 1-9 in every square section of 9 #'s. Just start playing and you'll get it in no time. I learned from the instructions in the book. Have fun, gotta get off here and run to my senior dinner at church.

One of my Daughter-in-law's gave me a Sudoku book, way over a year ago, said the puzzles were new, and too difficult for her.
Took me about a week to figure out the easy way of solving them. Went back to doing Crossword Puzzles because I can learn something from them.
The only good thing about Sudoku is: it teaches concentration.
I like Logic Puzzles too.

Yes! I love it!
I started out by getting a "easy" Sudoku book and read the instructions and just practiced. You'll develop your own techniques for solving the puzzles as time goes on. The one thing to keep in mind is that there is always a "right" answer and if there's not, that means that you made a mistake somewhere along the way.
Once you start you'll become hooked!

I'm a sudoku addict. It helps if you have a logical mind to start with, I'm not being insulting here, not everyone has a logical way of thinking.
Start with easy puzzles. There are books that explain in simple terms and there is online help.
One way to start is to complete each row with the numbers 1 to 9. Then each column, then each square.
Try http://www.strictlysudoku.com or http://www.sudoku.org.uk
these explain it with diagrams as well

I always start with the highest number which is number nine, and try all the directions to see if I can get any other nines, then I work my way down the numbers, sometimes one number will lead to several others.I find that an easy Sudoko can be very hard and a hard one can be easy, I have only once completed a diabolical one and I couldn't believe that it had worked out.I also like the codeword puzzles where they give you a couple of letters and you have to find the rest.

I'm with you on this one Kayboff. I am an analytical whizz. I have ALWAYS done well at logic and math. When a man who had been playing chess for years offered to teach me, and I ended up trouncing him in our FOURTH game, he absolutely REFUSED to play me again!! I am that good at figuring out strategy and reasoning out an acceptable outcome.
But I can not (or maybe that should read "refuse") to figure out how to play this stuff! Mind you, I have only ever read snatches of instructions, or tried to play the web versions without reading any instructions (I figure they will be built into the running software). And I have not ever "won" one of these games. Not that I have played all that many either...
Now if you could only ABSORB the rules by osmosis or something, I could probably master this in no time!

No I don't play sudoku
but my sister can do those puzzles
I attempted once I didn't get one number
and I didn't get the rows right.
How she does I don't know.
I do know that you have to figure out what
number goes where
and each number is used once.
here are a couple of websites for you
see which one works for you

I do play and love it. The thing is, it took me awhile to figure it out and aquire the addiction. You simply go to each suare and put what can only go there, and erase as you eliminate. Some squares can only take one number, these are your starting points.

Playstation! you do not ought to pay to be on-line like on XBOX. Wii is amazingly sturdy, yet there are not many large video games on there. convinced, I actual have a PS3, my brother has an XBOX 360 and that i actually have a Wii :). changed into quite confusing to make your techniques up on, it quite is why I actual have all 3 :D
