Thw wrestling industry over the yearshave gone bust, as many people would see it. WWE Raw and WCW Nitro had no problems getting ratings, even when NFL MNF was airing. The ratings were as high on those nights as when the NFL was in its offseason but the ratings were still up there.

Vince McMahon, himself, is a genuis who knows how to capitalize on something to make his product better. An example was the signing of Chris Jericho at the time it happened. The was the perfect time to bring someone in and he brought them in.

Today, however, there is no competition to trump. There is no Monday night show similiar to the WWE that competes with the WWE and for this reason, the wrestling industry has lost fans. It's easy to gain fans when you have Raw and Nitro bringing 5.0-8.0 ratings, some non wrestling fans may tune in and compare shows and if both shows are trying to one-up another, wrestling may have earned a new fan. Today, the programming on other channels on a Monday night are MNF and Heroes (no wrestling show). Wrestling has never, and will never, beat football or get a lead closer to MNF. By purchasing ECW and WCW, Vince turned the WWE into a monopoly when it came to broadcast/televised wrestling, which was interestingn in the short term but came back to bite him and us in the @$$ years later.

The only thing fans can do to change the direction of the WWE and its doubtful fans can do that because alot of people think, if we stop watching for awhilem we'll get what we want. The bottom line is Vince will likely change the direction of WWE programming but it probably won't be to cater to fans. Vince is use to telling fans what they want to see and telling the fas what they're going to get. This approach is what has harmed the WWE and it'll do more damage in the future. The best thing to do is if you are unhappy with WWE programming but want to keep up with what they are doing, visit spoiler websites to read the results but do not tune in to the USA Network Monday nights. While we may not count, chances are people in Neilson Rated homes may do the same. Then again, maybe Neilson viewers aren't tuning in to WWE programming but the rest of us who aren't measured are. What matters is the Neilson ratings, which don't include DVR viewing in their initial release rating of a show. DVR viewing isn't taken serious because sponsors know DVR'd shows are when people skip the commercials so the DVR viewing number is not an issue.

What will it take for the WWE to improve? TNA! TNA has the opportunity to score some disgruntled WWE fans right now. They need to differentiate themselves enough from the WWE to slowly move up the ranks, and it will be slow. The ratings for TNA Impact aren't going up by a large number this week or next week. Their rating will rise (hopefully) slowly over time, maybe by a .1 or .2 every few months. It will be years before they are remotely considering competing with the WWE, head-to-head. The one thing TNA DOES need to do is advertise TNA Impact on the USA Network during WWE Raw. That's one thing they either haven't done or the USA Network has not allowed them to do.

I hate people who call McMahon stupid, especially those who watch his programming only to b*tch about it. If you're going to call the man stupid, then you need to go un-watch the past 20 years of wrestling.

Second, I don't think he's stupid, just a tad ego driven, and believes he can beat out football. I don't know what the usual Raw ratings are, I don't keep up with it, but I doubt they would've done any better even if Raw were booked propperly Monday (and let's face it, aside from Kennedy v. Hardy and the return of HBK, it was a god aweful raw) because people who are committed to football are usually fairly hardline about catching every game. I'm almost positive Vince's mentality at this time of year is "why bother trying?"

Hogan had a creative control clause and I think thats what Orton has now, I think he didnt like losing to Christian and twisted things around and made himself champion as Vince had to rewrite the outcome. Although it might not be true I do know Orton is too blame since why would Christian be champ for 2 days? Makes NO Sense whatsoever in my opinion. I was looking forward to Christian having a long term reign as he deserved it after all he did for the company but of course if Orton doesn't like it then he wants things to go HIS way and not the other way. But Vince knows Orton is a big star so if he doesnt like it Vince will change it and because it was Christian as champ I think Vince probably didn't hesitate.

I agree that he is stupid. Since when does he need to be on Raw most of the time, anyway. I find that storyline to be dull and dumb at the same time. Another reason why I don't like him anymore was because of the way he treated the Chris Benoit situation by removing most of stuff about him.

A lot of people would rather watch Monday Night Football than RAW, including myself. I usually just flip back and forth but unless there is good match, promo etc. I would watch Football unless it is two teams l don't like.

I agree in each of every single word you said...
Football season...
HBK is not get hyped that he is going to return..so people didn;t know that to tune on RAW
and of course there's no way that people will keep an eye on RAW with Orton's speech and sheke hands thing!!

Of course not, he is trying his best, and he does not even choose storylines or matches, it is the creative team and stephanie that are messing up wwe, the reason it was better in the 80's and 90's is because stephanie didn't run the creative team and did not make the story lines.
