He won the prize for the Camp David Accords, which brough a real and lasting peace to Isreal and Eygpt. It was the first time Isreal created a formal peace with any of it's neighbors.

Thanks to Jimmy Carter, the peace helped provide some stability in a region rocked in constant turmoil. Carter should be honored for this standing achievement.

For Republicans to bash efforts of peace, especially a lasting peace created by Carter....it shows their immaturity, nonunderstanding of the world around them, and lack of historical knowledge.

It had nothing to do with the PLO.

Bingo. My thoughts exactly. I mean they are only grasping at straws when they try to attack Carter and Gore for winning the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.

You are absolutely correct that Jimmy Carter’s efforts in bringing a measure of peace in the Middle East is laudable. The fact that Republicans demean this accomplishment, maybe the result of, as you say “immaturity, nonunderstanding of the world around them, and lack of historical knowledge.”

Unfortunately, I am bit more cynical than you. Though some Republicans may suffer from the aforementioned maladies that you mentioned, I sincerely think, after talking to many of them, and observing the actions of many of their politicians, that there is something more sinister here than ignorance of contemporary and historical issues. I think they actually desire for war to continue, and turmoil to exist, because they know that it is good for business. As much as these people position themselves to be moral beacons, deep down inside their motives are purely geared towards expanding the coffers of big business, and any talk of morality or patriotism is merely posturing on their part.

I can forgive ignorance and immaturity. I cannot forgive blatant malevolent action that serves monetary self-interest at the expense of peace and life.

Former President Jimmy Carter deserved accolades for much of his work. But, campaigning for Hillary Clinton under the radar is not one I appreciate. To bash the current President and the office he once held, well, he lost credibility there. He has a long history with both Clinton's. From a pardon to alot of money back in the 70's before and during the Governor days for these two.

In my opinion it is what he has been doing lately that burns me up. Plus P'O the Sudanese Military? What was he thinking anyway? Thanks.

Its pretty typical for Neocons to sidetrack things to divert it towards what they wish to discuss, instead of staying focus on the real topic.

Most of what the Neocon are bagging on Carter about have nothing to do with the reasons he got the prize.

No. They have little understanding, period. They tend to listen to the Right Wing pundits, and read little history. The fact that Carter is a Democrat is enough to raise their ire, and cause them to smear a man who has worked for peace and humanity all his life.

people who're deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize are people who died protecting freedom to permit others to stay yet another day. there has been very greater than a number of poetry written by utilising people who observed conflict first hand and a few is written on behalf of people who died for the reason in the back of peace. it particularly is a verse from In Flanders container by utilising Lt. Col John McCrae and incredibly plenty sums it up: take in our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing palms we throw The torch; be yours to hold it intense. If ye ruin faith with us who die we will no longer sleep, nonetheless poppies enhance In Flanders fields. definite, they deserve the Nobel, no longer the politicians.

I was alive and watched the 3-way handshake with Carter so Yes I know what Carter won that peace prize for.

But did you know what was happening before Carter steped in? The peace accord was already almost finalized. It was not Carter who should have won that prize. It should have gone to Mubaric who was in fact assasinated for starting and finishing the peace with Israel. He started those talks before Carter was even sworn inton office. It just took Beigan, the Israeli president, a long time to believe the Egyptian.

Before you start handing out praise to people to promote your own political agenda, you should really know the facts. Carter was given credit for it because he was the first one to arrange a face to face meeting of all 3.

No they clearly don't.Easy question.
I saw some troll say Carter got it because he appeased Arafat. As you point out the prize had nothing to do with the PLO.
I think it's safe to say they don't have an clue on this issue if on any.

Who ever said that the Republicans were mature or understood anyone's world but their own?

People who receive praises and honors who are not from their own political party they do not recognize. You know, it never happened.
