I believe it is because it has to have a drying effect before it sticks. A good test would be to empty the tube all except for a little film residue, and then examine the inside. I am an engineer and by all logical factors I can think of, it would stick.

Super glue is designed to stick two different objects together. Inside the tube, its just the glue. If you put an object into the tube, and allowed air to get in, the object would become stuck to the inside of the tube.

I use the stuff all the time (miniature gamer) and air is the killer. Can't count the number of bottles that I forgot to cap that have a hard lump of dried glue in the bottom.
