I have short dark hair and am quite petit. The majority of suggestions have all involved blonde hair, I want to be a true brunette!

It would be really, really cool if you went as Mallory Knox from Natural Born Killers. She has short dark hair, but also wore a long blonde wig in some parts of the film. It would be pretty easy to do.

That girl from the matrix had short dark hair. I don't exactly remember her costume. But, you could rent the movie...
I think she was wearing -- black pants, black turtleneck, black boots, black trench coat -- should be able to get these things from the thrift store.
