I am 27 weeks pregnant, with a baby girl. I have a very common last name: Anderson. I want a name that is unique but not weird. A name thats not so common but people will know how to say it. I really like Delilah, but my mom hates it, becuse she was a evil lady in the bible. Thoughts-suggestions?

Personally, I think Delilah is a pretty name; however, if you decide to choose something else, there are some other names similar to Delilah.

Lilah/Lyla would probably be the most obvious choice as it is a variant form of Delilah.

A few names that either look or sound similar to Delilah:
Dahlia (DAL-yah) means "valley". Also known as the flower named for 18th-century Swedish botanist Anders Dahl.

Delia (DEEL-yah) is of Greek Origin means "from Delos" and has been one of the 1,000 most popular names in the United States every decade since 1880. It can be used by itself as a name or can be a shorter version for Cordelia or Adelia.

Della (DEL-ah) means noble. It can be used as a first name or as a shortened form of Adeline, Adelaide, or Adela.

Good luck with whatever you end up choosing. I'm sure your mother's intentions are good. I know it isn't her choice, but she just doesn't want anything negative (such as a name's history or meaning) being associated with your baby girl.

Best wishes.

How 'bout Delia?I think you should name your child whatever you want even if there is a harlet in the Bible w/the same name.Unless your a Christian and your daughter might come across her name and maybe not like it when shes older.I don't think you should do any of those "Jessica,Stephanie,Alissa"-type names 'cause they're not unique in any way, everybosy has those names!I like Audrie but it sounds too much like your last name.If you like names that start w/a D,how about Dianna(it sounds really pretty in spanish).Wait, that won't work w/your last name. Here's a really different one,Kiele(key-e-lee)it's Hawaiian for 'life'.And if people can't remember her name then she can alsways go by Elly.Good Luck!!

I met a girl named Avery the other day and I thought it was a beautiful name! Not very common, either.

Avery [middle name] Anderson

I like Elisabeth for a middle name, I think it makes the whole name sound classy.

I love Delilah, but a lot of people have problems with it because of the Biblical association. What about Lilah? Lilah Anderson is gorgeous.
