No, you're not. Although I'd be more interested in seeing the coach in question get a miraculous groin injury attempting to call the timeout. Or the Referee just completely ignore him.

If you saw the Auburn Florida game a couple of weeks ago, Urban Meyer (Fl coach) called a timeout just as Auburn kicked one that was good by only a foot or so. On the repeat attempt, he nailed it perfectly. It's not exactly the scenario you mentioned but the second kick was obviously much better.
Urban Meyer's call wasn't underhanded. It was exactly what either coach would have done in the same circumstances. Although Tuberville fussed a bit (because that's part of his job), no one at Auburn should have been the least bit surprised.

I hate to see a good kick nullified due to an underhanded strategy. I think this practice should be done away with. If the first kick was a miss though, and the second one good, the coach would look like a fool. I think it's a cheap strategy no matter which team I happen to be pulling for.

It has many, many times before....it is only a controversy now since the TO is being called a split second before the ball is snapped. It used to be - way back in the day (2006 and back) the TO was called almost immediately when the team lined up to attempt the field goal.

did u watch the last monday night game folk buried both kicks right through the uprights? im a dallas cowboys fan. but i dont think they should mess with the icing the kicker thing. its a good strategy. its like in golf if a person is lining up a putt and somebody yells you da man right as they are going through their follow through. but football is different, the kickers with the worst nerves are going to miss, the kickers who arent nervous dont have anything to worry about it. i think it takes the excitement of the kick if they change it.

I think icing the kicker is unsporting. I realize there are no rules against it and that it's part of the game...but I just don't like the practice. If you ask most athletes (I'm one myself)..most will tell you that they hate icing. It's a cowardly way of playing the game.

I agree with you; I think it would serve them (the team that called the timeout) right. I hope this issue is addressed in this year's off-season meetings, and that this practice becomes illegal in the future.

I would think it was hysterical if it happened, but I am not sitting around waiting for it to happen. I have more important things to worry about.
