They go like we do when we meet at that cross gender bar in town, up &down,up &down, and when your on top, down &up , down &up.

Stairs go both ways, its the person that goes up or down.

I think that stairs are meant to go up, but also you can go down them.

stairs go any way you wish, its the need of the user that defines if they go up or down. although i always view stairs as going up as they lead you from one level to another.

They must go UP because a stair is made of two components a step and a RISER.

Stairs go up and then when coming back well i have to yous down.OR if i am up that means i have to get down.

stairs don't go anywhere, they just sit and do nothing......
now escalators go both up and down....at the same time....the front goes up and the other side goes down.....and vice versa......hmmmmmm you could almost say they go round and round, yet they are not round at all
