I always ignore them, make them feel as if they didn't exist in my life...
I actually did deal with rude people that way, and it often pisses them off... I don't look or talk to them the next time I see them again... ^_^
Unless if they had changed then I would be good to them too... Just forget about that customer, everyone does mistakes, at least you did your part, so be proud of yourself my friend...

I pretend they're being really nice, it irritates them to know they don't bother me in the least.
One time I was beside a man at a counter in Staples. He asked the clerk for a business card for staples so she handed him one from the manager's pile. He looked at me and asked me if his question was unreasonable or if the woman helping him was just stupid. My mouth dropped open and I told him I would have given him the same card if I were the clerk. Turns out he was looking for a brochure on how to ORDER his own cards. I sweetly told him he was very rude to the woman, that she didn't deserve to be spoken to that way, and that I thought he was an angry man by nature. Then HIS mouth dropped open. I walked away and not only did the clerk come and thank me but the man found me and told me I was right and that he had apologized to the clerk. It was so awesome to be able to put him in his place and for him to admit he was a jerk. But he did ask me!

Depends upon the situation. If it is a customer, you have to deal with them. It is your job, and being extra nice is about all that works. They have their pressures, too and by being nice you can make their day better. If it is an acquaintance, I walk away and may delete them from my list of contacts.

I agree, be super nice. It's hard and you want to choke them half the time, but in the end you know you did what you were supposed to whether they appreciate it or not. I am sure to smile and tell them to have a nice day too. They may curse me to the moon, but I will always have the last laugh. :-))))

picture the personwho has been rude, to you picture, a woman clothed in a vest boxers, & socks, & a man in bra, sussy belt stockings & six inch heel's, if it does'nt make you sick, it should make you laugh, at the ignorant sod's, inside your head. Then forget em & move on to next customer, think up different stupid outfit's, for each rude customer.

I think you handled the situation well.. it's just something to have to deal with when you're working.
Although, if it's that you're associating with someone who is rude, I usually just tell them they need to shut up because they are getting on my nerves.
:)
