ok simply put there is like a 90% chance the election in Australia will be called tomorrow. will the US Government be paying any attention to what’s going on here after all Bush and Howard are friends. and how much coverage (if at all) will American media follow the election. and how many Americans would actually be interested to hear news about the Aussie election?

I seriously doubt that there would be any interest in our election result in the US. It might get a by-line in the back section of a paper or two but that will be it. They have more important things to worry about than what is going on here. Australia has no effect on anything they do or say so why should they be interested?

Allowing for the fact that, on average, only some 30% of the eligable voters actually turn out to vote for the Presidential candidate of Their choice is seems that We should be showing the Americans how to run an election.

There will be a watchful eye on the australin election. The main reason i say this is that whom ever is elected will have to be pally pally with the amercian president.
alos the other people who will be watching will be the companies who export to australia. Another group would be the defence force of the states as australia do a lot of deals for defence products for both products and also back up for those who are staying or going in certain danger areas.

The American people don't give a stuff about Australia.
I saw a TV programme where people in the streets in the US were asked if they knew where Australia was. Their responses were; Asia, Europe, Near Africa and other stupid answers. The only media coverage we get over there is when Bush was here for OPEC oops, APEC.
They don't even know who Howard is.... lucky buggers!

Serious......?
Americans barely even know Australia exists let alone who John Howard is or who Keviin Rudd is.
Their education system is taught in such a way that the US public have little knowledge or interest in foreign affairs
