Let me get this straight. My 67 year old mother has worked all her life and just retired and started drawing her Social Security. Her husband is disabled and drawing it too. He was able to work up until about 59 or 60. They both paid into the Social Security System by having some of their wages taken out of their check.

Now, you want them to work again, at their ages, one with a severe disability, for money they've already worked for and had taken from them once before?

I think it's ridiculous then.

That sounds like some oddball idea that is not part of the system at all. Social Security benefits have never been based on hours of community service, so this is VERY suspect as some sort of evil subterfuge.

If I had to guess, I would say this is a proposal by some pro-illegal immigration group, like La Raza, to give Social Security payments to illegals, which is a positively idiotic and stupid idea. The damned illegals should be thrown out, all of them, not given money.

Taken to long to happen is my view.

It will help people who are long term unemployed gain back a bit of self respect and benefit the community - a win win situation.

Anyone who claims the social because they can't be bothered to work might as well go and get a 'proper job' as well now.

It's all good.

Sounds like a good idea to me! So long as they are not on disability benefits for a physical problem I think it would be helpful for the community and the individual!

yes i think this is a good idea. My son and his girlfriend have both been unemployed for years. They say the benefits agency do nothing to help them find work and i say it is a disgrace. My son asked them for help in joining police, traffic warden etc but they just said he couldnt do them as had no qualifications - which is not true.

I feel my son should be pushed into getting a job as the longer it goes on the harder it will be.

I am not aware of any social security benefits being paid to those who claim they can't find a job. At least not where I live.

The majority of our ss money goes to those who have earned it...seniors...and the disabled who truly cannot find jobs or are not able to work due to their disability.

They have work for the dole schemes in australia. So long as the person is able bodied, I think it helps to instill a work ethic.

That's their money, honey. They've already worked for it. Whose bright idea is that? Bet they're a rich Republican.
