WoW, what a question.

The role of mass meida in spreading any kind of philosphy is to make the public aware of it.

The Gandhian Philosophy of ahimsa - non-violence - has received far more attention as a result of media coverage than it would have if it were spread by word of mouth only.

In the case of Gandhi, I think the role of the media has been largely positive - by portarying his philosophy in a good light.
