Well, if I remember correctly, the Invisible Man made a mistake and became invisible... and therefore was able to do some things that no one knew he was doing. While in the Scarlet Letter, everyone knew about the girl's mistake and she was shamed for it in public. In both cases, the mistakes were eventually overcome and people went on about their business.
So, I guess your problem is identifying the point you're trying to prove? And, since only you know the answer to that, you'll have to decide how you want to say whatever it is you're trying to get across.

You cannot really separate the letter from the book because it started with the book.
The first answer is correct, in the sense that, it is the letter A for Adultery.
