I would say it is stuff left over from. The blood turns black when it is old if it was new blood then it would be red. So black says it is old blood, as for the smell, I'd say something is going on inside and the pain also indicates something inside. Your best bet would be see the doc and let them do a exam's, rule out things. It might be embarrassing but it is to your best interest as well as your child and partner.

Nothing is wrong with you! You know how you can have brown periods, well you can have black ones too. It is just dried up blood like a brown period it is just black. Many people may have black blood, don't worry about it your fine! Hmm.. didn't see the rest of your note. Your period can be black! That is for sure! But smelling bad and being painful doesn't sound to good, maybe you want to find a different doctor.

Long painful heavy periods can be a sign of endometriosis..
Look it up in a search engine and it should give you some symtoms etc..
I have had it since young too and it got particularly bad after children, a small day surgery procedure made it so much more bearable.
Hope this has been some help.

You could be experiencing clotting during your period which is normal for some women. This occurs when the uterus is trying to push out the lining that built up during the month in case pregnancy occurred but is now no longer needed. I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
