He doesn't drink everyday, but when he does he doesn't just have 2 or 3 beers, he drinks 10 to 12. I've printed material, but am afraid to give it to him. He's not abusive, but I have set him "off" in the past and now I keep things "cool". I have talked to him when he's sober and he tells me "your right" and he stops for a while and then it picks back up. How do I stop the cycle?

He knows you have a problem with his drinking, you already told him. You can't control his behavior, but you can find yourself an Al-anon group. Please attend at least one of their meetings.

You didn't say how often, if it's like 2 or 3 times a week then he has a drinking problem and he has to admit it to get any help. You can't stop the cycle, all you can do is tell him your fillings and give him the material you have, but don't nag it want help.

I used to drink 8 to 10 bottles of beer almost everyday after work. My wife never ask me to stop or even tell me it is bad. But when I encounter God in my life, and I attend Holy Mass everyday, and read a verse of the Bible everyday, and pray the Rosary everyday, my love for drinking beer little by little dissappeared, and all my vices just faded away. And then I realized that drinking beer and liquor is only good for the body if it is not taken too much. Too much drinking could destroy the manhood of a certain person, and eventually it could lost our honor and dignity.

can you encourage him to drink more than 12 bottles of beer? that way he is flat out when he comes home. talk to him that whenever he is home drunk, he will have to sleep in the couch or anywhere but beside you because he tends to move restlessly when he's flat out. if you have children, tell him the next day, when he is sober that your children are asking why he always get drunk whenever he drink. tell him also that one of your kids even had drawn in a piece of paper showing his father swaying and drunk. if the above did not work, congratulations, you have an incorrigible husband.

Is he using alcohol as a crutch for his problems? People sometimes abuse alcohol when they feel their problems are getting out of control and the only thing that helps them forget is excessive alcohol consumption. Address what problems he is dealing with or the drinking will continue.

Make him leave. That'll tell him that you're tired of his drinking and his excuses.

I would say-- that he's got to stop ON HIS OWN!!But if he's NOT ABUSIVE--and doesn't drink EVERYDAY--COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS!
