If it's on the back, it's to PRINT to it via.
if on the front, it's to connect USB cable from digital cameras.
Read printer manual (probably on it's CD9 to find out how to utilise it

Hi if are you refer to the other usb port aditional to the cable that goes to PC or laptop is for print directly from usb some kinds of formats like photos in jpg's or pdf maybe tiff. try to read the manual sometmes is good form to get into you printer. :-P

You probably mean a normal shaped USB port. Those are for you to plug in a USB device (thumbdrive / USB memory card reader / portable hard drive) containing photos you want to print. If you want a more accurate answer, let us know the model number.
