I have been chatting to a guy for over 12 months. We finally met yesterday. He had quite a big indentation on his left hand where a wedding band should be. He explained this as his wedding ring was too tight and had to have it cut off. I never even suspected he could have been married....he seems genuine...but you just never know. Is there any site in Australia that I could find out if he is married.

well he was married.....but said his marriage ended over 10 years ago. His ex has re-married, so he has said and I believe him. I am just wondering that maybe he remarried too.

It's hard to tell. He could have been still wearing his wedding band these past 10 years and just have had it cut off. But that really doesn't seem likely, especially if he has been dating. I don't think I would ever feel comfortable dating a man that had a wedding band on. lol There are a lot of cheaters (men and women) out there.

But then again, you really never know. Maybe he's not married. Trust takes a long time to develop. You'll see patterns in when he sees you, calls you, etc. Trust your gut feelings and women's intuition. You may have blinders on now and not pay attention to red flags (I've done that before and only after a month or so really stopped being in denial about the red flags and things I really didn't like about the person I was dating). But until you pretty good evidence that he is married, why don't you just assume that he's telling the truth and is not married. But trust develops slowly and we shouldn't trust new people in our lives before we have reason to. I want to trust people, so I do most of the time, and I've been burned many times after trusting right off the bat.

I don't think any of us can really tell you if he is married or not. Only you will really know if he is married or not. In the meantime, have fun getting to know him!

That sounds too suspicious for me..

I had a problem with my wedding band being too tight a couple years ago, and had to have it cut off. Let me tell you, the "indention" from the ring being too tight.. went away practically overnight. Any sign of that band being there was gone within a couple days, at most. So, for that guy to be telling you that the mark is from a wedding band that was too tight, ten years ago... well, I'm sorry, but that's just plain silly, and you shouldn't believe it one bit. It would not still be there after this long.

I'm not sure about websites you can check, but you may want to call your local court house or something, and ask them what options you have to check on the situation.

I will say though, if you have to question his honesty.. he's not worth it.

He's married.

A wedding band indention does not last for 10 years. Maybe a month at the most.

I've been wearing a wedding ring for 14 years. Sometimes I take it off when lifting weights or doing yard work, and I'll forget to put it back on for a day or two. Sometimes my indention wears away in just that little time.

Gabound is right.

There would be no indentation on his finger if he had been single for 10 years. The finger would have 'fluffed out' within few weeks.

Are you able to monitor it? Can you see if the indentation changes over a period of time that he is with you?

Well if he is married then look out for other clues like unexplainable behavior. Eg does he seem comfortable being seen in public with you.
Is he comfortable being with you around his frineds
Does he make up excuses for not showing up, or showing up really late for somethng you both agreed on etc. If there is anything like what i have mentioned then its possible that he may be seeing someone other than you, but i cant tell about marriage.
