If having to chose between the two, the first is by far more important, because the first step to being polite to others is by not "polluting" the air around you that other people have to breathe. :p........... This is of course in the case where the person has access to a shower, it's excusable if they're actually homeless.

Both are important in my book! It's the all round package that's important but If I had to choose, I'd go for the hygiene.

One is for the outside look. The other one is for the inside attribute.
It’s hard to compare but politeness and good manners are more important to me.

Well... not to be shallow, but.. Good personal hygiene & cleanliness, coz being unhygienic is a minus point in social friendship to me...

I agree with the first option.If the hygiene and cleanliness is in place.Then the other option would be cool too.

Bad manners can be ignored but bad hygiene ie BO is difficult to ignore!

i imagine sturdy manners and politeness are more desirable major because when I tell them they favor to be more desirable hygienic they wont be nasty with me and purely pay more desirable interest to their hygiene.
