It seems the leaders of the Democratic party look at it that way. They have their constituents crying they aren't getting enough and want the government to grow so they can be covered under programs.
These programs have to be funded they believe by the rich. However, the wealthiest in this country pay the largest portion of the taxes now.
Where will the rest of the funds come from? When you target the rich, as Fred Thompson said, "The middle class better duck." The mass programs and other marxist ideas of socialism just don't work! Russia was socialist and look where it got them, along with North Korea, etc.,
Yes, it will get them votes, but all these people are not lazy, they are struggling in an economic system that is already burdened with programs. Of course I do not propose ridding ourselves of certain programs that deinitely help the needy.
So what is the answer?
We need to seriously cut taxes, reform social security, and cut government waste. This will provide more and better paying jobs, and opportunities for personal growth.
The more jobs, the more taxes that go to the government, and less tax burden for everyone. When the economy grows, we all prosper; when the economy is stagnant jobs are lost. This is capitalism!
Isn't this idea a little more rational?

I agree. I get so sick of hearing liberals apout off about how everyone that has money either inherited it, or stole it. My father was a blue collar working stiff, who spent 45 years in the same union, to retire afterward. He struggled all his life, and in the end, wound up broke and frustrated. He wanted to see me do better, as i do for my children. I make 4 times what he did, have a supervisory position, live in a 350,000 home in a safe and clean neighborhood, and my kids attend private schools. I started off the same way, as a blue collar worker. I never stole anything from anyone, and worked and earned everything i have. If i can do it, anyone can, the difference is, I wasnt content to sit back and take a handout.

Robin Hood sounds cool. I wonder how the politicians feel at night knowing they've robbed the poor, another reason why I hate politicians.

I am far from rich and they keep grabbing my cash for social programs.... And at least Robin Hood only preyed on the bad rich people, the people who were preying on the poor. Many dems don't make a distinction between evil and rich and good and not poor.

I want the Dems to define "Rich". What income does "Rich " start at. I think they define " the Rich" as anyone who holds a job that earn 20K a year. I make 45k a year and see my taxes going thru the roof. Called my congressman and they wont tell me where the income level starts, BTW shes a lib Dem also . Didn't think Id receive an answer, but had to ask.

Um... Don't you think that's what the Sheriff of Nottingham thought about Robin Hood?
And if all Liberals wanted was to get votes, wouldn't it be easier for them to simply GET RICH? I mean, there isn't much reason to get votes except for money and power, and actually getting rich is probably a lot more certain than getting votes and then getting rich from them.

Yea unfortunatly they only seem to care about poor minority groups most of the time. Honestly its near impossible to get a scholarship or any federal aid if u are anywhere near white and midclass in college. I get to work a ton and they still tax the hell out of me for programs that dont work or that wont be there by the time i can actually use them. Fortunatly onmy last year of living on spagetti hopefully and no more dorms. But again i get **** for help from dems or republicans bu i hope to be upper middle class atleast in a year or two so ill take the rich boy who got threw college than the other rich kids who got to go to ivy league cause mom and dad worked thier *** off. as if it made a difference

I resent your implication that I'm lazy. I make less than 50k per year, but I'm a hard worker. I'm just a bad American because I lack ambition. I have a job that pays my bills, and I enjoy my lifestyle. Therefore, I'm content to maintain my current state of income.
To me, rich people were either born into rich families or are conmen that "stole" their money. I think only a small percentage of the rich are actual productive visionaries.
I believe the rich should be taxed more than the poor because they have more ability to pay. If you want to tax everyone equally, how about also supporting equal opportunities for everyone, say via 100% estate tax. Then only the productive would be rich instead of all the lazy boys like the U.S.'s current president. I had busted my butt at various fast food restaurants to pay for the tuition my academic scholarships didn't cover. He slacked through college living off the family fortune. Tell me again who's lazy!

They're more like a "fence". They steal from the rich and re-sell to the poor by buying votes for favors.
