Well... From the start, there has been political pressure applied in the case. Sadly, not towards seeing things done, but quite the opposite. I've followed investigations which dealt wich well known pressure groups, people who have always been known for "getting their friends involved" and I've never seen something like this. Some members of the British Government were really sticking their neck out for this people. It's none of my business, anyway. What is "my business" is how much that flawed this investigation. And how well the british public opinion was manipulated. I really still can't get over it. I always had the impression that the British people had a thing for the police work. That it was expected to help the police. Yet, a large majority "decided" that the McCanns should have a special treatment and that their refusal to cooperate wouldn't be regarded upon as suspicious. Well done... The press was forced to deal with something that they weren't used to: Lack of information from the police. And they took it bad. Even after several British Police Officers said that it is the best way to handle things, they still took it bad. And so they created rumours, they set a personal campaign against the investigators, they slandered an institution like the PJ which, until this case, was viewed by European Police Forces as a model. Once again, well done. And the political pressure still goes on. Does anyone find normal that in this day and age months are needed for questions to be asked? That an entity like Eurojust is systematically disrespected by one of the Governments who sanctioned its foundation? Well done. As far as the Portuguese situation goes, namely the internal situation at the PJ... You guys shouldn't worry about that. Your wishes are being respected. Nobody is bothering the McCanns. And even if the Portuguese government decides to take a harder line on the McCanns, let's be honest about it... so what? The McCanns are British citizens presently in the UK. Any ideas on how the interrogation should be made? How can the Portuguese police do it? Let me give you a hint... It can not. If tomorrow a hard solid evidence shows up that proves without a shadow of a doubt that the McCanns did the unthinkable, they're still safe. British courts have no jurisdiction, no british citizen can be extradited from Britain. End of story. Once again, well done. Matthew W.: Was that the Royal "we"? Saturn 5: I'm also a parent. Parenting is great because it shows us, without a shadow of a doubt, how flawed we are. As far as child neglect, I think you are missing the point. Look at it like this... We all (at least once) threw the empty pack of cigarrettes on the sidewalk. Do it in Singapore and you're arrested. By Portuguese law, what the McCanns did, regardless of how common and seemingly harmless it may look to you, it's a crime. At least here. Can you objectively argue with this?

Praia de Luz is renowned as a Swingers resort.
Portugal is known for its tolerance of diverse sexual tastes. All sections are catered for. Praia de Lug caters for swingers.
Do not cry foul unless you’ve done some basic research.
The McCanns had a problem with being disturbed during their adult games.
It was too risky have several groups of children asleep with babysitters as if there was a problem the group might e disturbed in the middle of their activities.
Solution. Put all the kids in one place and sedate them.
Madeleine gets an overdose.
Problem: if this gets out we are all in trouble. Doctors will be struck off for stealing sedatives, administering sedatives, people will be embarrassed. We are all equally guilty.
Solution concoct an abduction story which we all will stick by no matter what.
Help Gerry and Kate hide the body until they can dispose of it later.
Set up fund, make a million and laugh at he gullible British public.
Arrests and charges tomorrow....

A little worrying to see that the McCanns are welcoming this development. Makes me wonder what spanner they are going to throw into the works now. Or are they trying to lull this new team into a false sense of security by appearing to co-operate so they can stymie any steps taken against them.

I hope so, the McCann 'suspects', which people tend to forget have been too clever for too long, they are 'suspects' for a reason! but they have to keep their charade up, too late for anything else now and more probably for the poor child they so easily left alone and have forgotten in their quest to proclaim their innocence.....

My question is this....Why now? Why weren't they fetched in sooner? Given how long she has been missing. Let's put it this way, they wouldn't have left it this long in the UK or US.
But I must admit, I think the McCann's know much more than they are letting on. When people take children to sell, they usually take the youngest possible, and the twins are younger than Maddie. Why were they left? Why Maddie? And, given reacent news, there was more than just the McCann children! So again....why Maddie?
