Absolutely. Many cultures require that not only women but men keep their heads covered. This is just another way that the government via the school system indoctrinates people to conform to the standards of a primarily anglo/christian society. Not only that, but in this day an age, it clearly will aid in creating more animosity between those that must (Muslim children for example) and those that CAN NOT.

I am sorry but to me at hat has nothing to do with respect. It is like a part of clothing. I think hats should be allowed in all places. Hats are now very fashionable. The people who come to the states from other countries, who wear the towels on their head, or the long cloth on their head. They are allowed to wear them all over. So I think everyone else should be allowed to wear a hat or something. I think men look so sexy in blue or red handkerchief bandannas. Like the biker dudes wear. This is America the land of the free. A has nothing to do with respect.

in the classroom no, outside in the halls yes. There once was a time when people were respectful, and this was a part of it. While this whole thing may seem like no big deal to hat wearers and children (yes high schoolers are children, since a young adult is really 18-24), then it should be no big deal not to wear a casual hat.

it just goes back to not wearing casual hats inside.

Only females should be allowed to wear a hat anywhere in a building, an American gentleman walked into my local restaurant here in France with his hat on and he was told to leave, complete with family, despite saying he will remove it. Muslim children are not allowed to cover their heads in school here either. If they do not like the rules the authorities have told them they can always leave the country, it is not compulsory that they live here, conform or leave as in their own country. it may sound harsh but it is fair everyone is treated the same

All kids should wear hats in the schoolyard, it is compulsory in many schools in Australia. They should remove their hats when in the classroom.
