Why cant I just take my laptop out with me and use it without any wires. When I take out the battery and the other wire after a while I get the message "battery low" so its not really wireless then is it?

Ah, take no notice if people are rude!
I have been using pcs about 10 years now but i remember vivedly when it was all new..........I took my new laptop to work and handed it to our IT specialist and said "can you show me how to work it" ha ha......he handed it back and said "welcome to the world of discovery...........we all had to learn and now it is your turn"
ha ha
Wireless is reference to the internet connection i.e. getting on-line for your mails and web stuff..............sadly no-one has yet invented the laptop that charges itself as it goes along ...........you should get about 3-4 hours life without re-charging though.
Very good luck to you...............beleive me it is very excieting when you work it all out for yourself. x

Wireless doesn't mean battery power.

Wireless means you're able to connect to the internet with it from pretty much anywhere without being connected to any cables or wires.

The battery part is pretty straightforward: just like using a flashlight or radio, the batteries have to be charged to work.

When they say it is wireless usually they are meaning the wireless internet connection. Also if you get a 9 cell or 12 cell battery your notebook might last a little bit longer.

Yeah, but that's just like a "wireless" phone. You need to charge your cell somehow. Just like a laptop.

That would be freaking awesome if someone could figure out a way to "signal" charge stuff. No cords, just a simple plugin and place the laptop, phone, iPod just a few feet from the plugin. And VIOLA ..

It's chargin' that sucka.

A lap top battery will only last about 3/4 hours depending on what you are doing

It means wireless connection to networks ie the Internet or local networks, not the actual appliance unfortunately

You're confused about the term wireless!!!

Wireless refers to the internet connection, not the power...

You should immediately take the laptop back to the place that you bought it and explain that you're too dumb to own a computer.
