I was just made aware of this ridiculous law or act as Bush calls it where anywhere in any state in this country they are not only fingerprinted but now having to give DNA samples for storage and future use for even such crimes as misdemeanors. I guess civil liberties are disappearing into the night more and more. I have to ask you people what your intake is on all this????Welcome to the new police state!!!!

While I don't necessarily agree with anything the current administration does or stands for, I have to tell you that communism has nothing to do with DNA sample storage.

Communism is a lifestyle where everyone shares equally in the wealth.

No one agrees with your irrational statement

How does a belief in a government controlled economy whereby everyone is expected to contribute according to ability and receive according to need have anything to do with DNA evidence?

Collecting DNA samples is no more a violation of your civil liberties than recording your name taking your picture or taking your fingerprints

It"s an excellent means of positive identification The better the identification method the less likely you are to be falsely accused Like someone else said you do not have the right to anonymity when being charged with a crime

What crimes are you worried about being solved anyway? Is your definition of a police state one that has police who are allowed to investigate crimes? Do you think that they should only be permitted to collect evidence or information that would not result in solving the case upon which they were working?

Just what function do you think police should serve in our society? Your obvious hatred of President Bush and law enforcement has clouded your judgment

DUH, don't you know that DNA has helped catch criminals and release the innocent who were in prison?? Like the Green River serial killer in WA state who killed over 50 women - DNA finally let the authorities figure out who it was and now he's in prison for life.

What is WRONG with you??? Do you really want all these murderers wandering the streets when DNA could match them to the REAL killer and put them away?? The only way I see DNA storage to be unwanted is if you're going to commit a heinous crime yourself. Otherwise why the H*ll would you care?? It's done SO much good, not only in finding killers and rapists but finding the RIGHT ones so innocent people are not sent to prison!

no i dont agree...if you arent going to be committing serious crimes in the future then why should you care if they have an assigned number for you out of millions. its not like any scientist is going to try to make a franken-clone. if it helps solve crimes...sex crimes or otherwise then go for it...as far as im concerned if you broke the law, then the police have reserved the right to forsee that you may commit another. and try being the parent of a murdered child whos killer would have been caught had this law been enacted sooner. unless you have walked a mile...

Communism? I guess you're not talking about Communism in the political science sense of the word. Fascism, perhaps? Authoritarianism? Anyway, I'm not familiar with the DNA "law" you mention. We passed a proposition here in CA a while back which I think related to sex offenders or to certain classes of felons.

So the government should stop making any records that help to catch repeat criminals, rapists, etc? Do you maintain all law enforcement is Communist? How does that become a civil liberties issue? Sorry, I don't believe any of us should have the right to commit crimes in secrecy.

I'm sick of people using term COMMUNISM as absolute synonym of Totalitarianism.
