I'm drunk tonight and would just like to propose the question thats been asked forever, what matters? what's important? whats real vs whats deceitfully real? I'm kinda confused about what the point of life is, but I don't what anyone to elaborate that far. I just want to know what is important in your lives beside family and friends? (, if anything). thanks.

Well I think being drunk just means that you are a little more closer to your sub-conscience that's why the question.

Well the answer according to me is the peace of mind. It is the most hard won asset any person can have as it is constantly attacked by almost everything around.

It's important because it when attained can sustain you in every possible way. Lead you to calmness and believe in grief, give reason when perplexed, be a friend when no one is
around.

for me it is what life is all about. It is really the only thing I count as I truly have.

Try it once and I believe you will not be confused ever.
Life is what we feel and a peaceful mind can feel with all the senses it has.
luck with trying.

What really matters is, experiencing this moment that you're in right now. That is all that ever really matters. To see what I mean, try imagining that you're terminally ill and must not let anyone find out (can't change your plans). If you really imagine it carefully and closely, really act the part, you see that there really is no reason to change your plans or to change how you spend your time -- only to change your perspective, and how you spend your *attention.* That's what matters. And it's also just about the hardest thing to stay focused on, too, because everything else that follows from that (family and friends in particular) that you care about, there's a sense of responsibility associated with it. Your ego likes to think that IT is the important thing -- "who" you are or what you deserve credit for. It's not true, though. Whoever you think you are, what matters is being alive as you are right now.

Your putting the bottle to your lips is real. Your puking is real. The headache you will have in the morning will be real. The not so "real" stuff is your worrying about the meaning of life.

YOU ARE ALIVE!

And the meaning is: How long can you keep it up and what do you get to take with you when it is your time to go...(hopefully not another 100 years from now)

what really matters might be worlds apart between 2 persons.. Its basically when you cherish and think is valuable. For some people it might be family, or fame.. But no one can know what it is for you.. what's important to you ? I think there is no fundamuntal "bad" thing that might matter to people ( maybe be king or queen of the world) but it's just all personal way of valuing what's around you !

What matters is to live for a real purpose. Things have no worth when they don't serve any purpose. We only have real meaning and worth when we have a real purpose to live for.

All of our attempts to invent things to live for will fail because we know that we only invented them to make ourselves feel good and once we realize that, they cease to make us feel good.

Sorry, too much elaboration. Purpose of life requires God by the definition of the word "purpose".

everything matters...Life works like a Eco system.Just 1 organism disappearing from the Eco system may cause the end of the wold. That's why we must cherish everything we have now rather than being remorseful over a wrong decision.Anyway, next time you want to ask something like that, don't sound so scary. It looks as if someone's going to commit suicide

life is a give and get, win and lose, love and hate. we deal with the bad to have another chance to get what is good. life is just a cycle of events either in our favor or to our distaste. so personally id say i live for moments. from little things like the moment you find $5 (which is better to find than spend) or when a good song comes on the radio to the moment when meet a new friend or have a baby or whatever else. everything builds on everything else or negates things. i live for desires curiosities and other such things which i wish to have fulfilled. so maybe i live for fulfillment. fulfillment is my ultimate goal. a goal one will never achieve completely but in striving for fulfillment life is anticipation of those fulfilling events. so anticipation of fulfillment is my answer...

damn that is not the conclusion i thought I would draw when starting this message. i basically convinced myself that this is true without knowing it before.

It matters that you stay sober for your family. you live only once and better that you know what is around you than slave yourself to other elements.
This is within your control. Sorry for the lecture. I love humanity to ignore you, who once was a beautiful baby in your parents arm and why spoil all that with alcohol?

Being sober really matters. And that's not supposed to be taken as a joke.

God really matters. Being genuine really matters. Being patient really matters.

Best wishes to you...
