You can't get a Corvette that gets 50 miles to the gallon, and you can't get a high powered laptop and hope to get good battery life. Powerful computing takes.....power, meaning its going to result in lower battery life, its simply a matter of physics.

You're going to have a hard time finding a "long" battery life for an Alienware laptop, simply because almost every Alienware out there is a high-end unit loaded with extra RAM and disks and all the rest. You build a laptop that has a 200W power brick, you can expect it to chew up batteries twice as fast as a Dell with a 75 or 90 watt brick....

Usually laptop manufacturers also have a 12-cell battery that should provide longer battery life. However, Alienware laptops are generally power-hungry, so the most you might be able to get out of a 12-cell is about 2 hrs.

I don't know, but lithium ion batteries are the best out right now for the price.
