My friend, this gujarati population in Kerala has been there for more than 100 years (not just 30); in the fort cochin area and mattanchery of Cochin and including the Jew town, there is a fairly sizable population of gujaratis, gujarati shops and restaurants; if you enter this area, you will hear more 'khem chos' and hardly any malayalam. There are historic jain temples in the area which are tourist attractions as well.

Another smaller gujarati population exists in the Gujarati street of Calicut as well.
