why must people act a certain way and dress a certain way to be accepted. doesn't that mean we are living a lie?

normality does not exist in itself. to be normal is to be among a majority group. for example one may think that the "punk" style is not normal, however, if the "punk" group was larger than any other group that would seem normal. Just look at different things that people eat, do, how they dress, and act in different countries. for those countries it is normal because those actions or tendancies are done by large amounts of people. for example lets say in another country it is normal to smack someone lightly on the head when greeting them for the first time. if that person came to the united states people would think that was very odd or not normal. however, in his country it would be. Popular culture has a lot to do with normality too. this is because mass media can influence many people and if those people conform to this pop culture image they will represent a majority so it is considered normal.

Being "human" means not doing every stupid thing that comes to your head. It means reasoning things out.

You are not without the capacity to figure out the consequences for your actions. Sometimes, in spite of the outcome, you can chose to stand out, to have a different voice, to look a certain way. Your choices should always be your own, but there is no reason that they should be carelessly thought out.

And if you do choose to be a discordant voice, be strong and true to your convictions, whatever they may be, and make intelligent choices based on your own beliefs. No one can argue with that!

Personality is never normal. However, personality shows the signs of what we really are when we aren't trying to conform.

I don't know, but I won't change for anyone. I'm me, whether they like it or not! :)
