by Several actually.

The Spanish, Purtuguese, British, Dutch, Russians, French, Germany too name the biggest, but not all of course. There were many countries. The Chinese were here also though not treated nor lived as westerners did. They did build the railroads. Then of course many Africans taken from home as slaves.

So that is a lot and I have not even named them all. I hope that helps.

The countries which actually claimed land in North America would be Spain, England, France, and the Netherlands (remember that New York was initially New Amsterdam).
Swedes were here early as well, but I don't think they actually claimed territory for Sweden as the others did.
Portugal did not claim lands for Portugal in North America to my knowledge. German settlers arrived fairly early, but they did not claim land for Germany as there was no country of Germany until 1871. Russia would reach Alaska much later than the "Age of Exploration" as we usually define it. The Chinese and African people who came to America did not claim land for their home countries.
