First clean the bottom plate of the mouse.Oily dirt may be sticking to it. Next open the round plate by turning it anticlockwise. Take out the ball and rub it on a course cloth. Inside the mouse you will find three rollers on which dirt must have accumulated.Clean them with a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover. After cleaning blow the inside dry . You may repeat the process whenever the mouse does not perform well.

Assuming the "basic" mouse has a ball on the bottom, it will "stick" if you are using it on a slick surface like a desk.
You need a mouse pad, something the ball can grip onto as you move it around.

Turn your mouse over while your computer is off and take the bottom round plate off. It usualy turns off. Remove the ball and you will see three little wheels inside i. Take your finger nail and gently scrape the gunk off untill you've removed as much as possible, and then reassemble and see if that helps. I have the chapest one too and thats always what it is. Mouse pads can make the problems worse but improve the functionality of the computer.

The physical mouse gets stuck? I'm assuming you're using a trackball mouse. Go onto the bottom of the mouse and twist off the bottom part in the direction of the arrows, then let the trackball fall into your hand. Clean the inside of the mouse with compressed air and wipe off the trackball, then replace everything. This usually brings trackball mice back to life.

I've had this problem, those types of mouses suck. Get a Wireless Mouse, one where it's like a flash drive, it hooks in, those are the easiest, the only other thing I can suggest is to take out the ball and clean it.

At this price I suppose it's with ball (not an optical one).
Using it without mouse-pad will collect garbage around the ball.. you must open it (moving the round little door around the ball, no screwdriver needed). Clean it and will be like in the first day.
Anyway it's better to buy an optical one... no maintenance needed.

Turn your mouse over. See the hole where the rubber ball sticks out? You can turn that round section and open up the mouse. Turn it over to let the ball fall out and blow (no pun intended.) into the hole to blow the dust out and/or any particles that may have gotten in there while rolling around on your desk or table. Besure to clean the little rubber ball. Drop the ball back into the hole and put the plastic piece in place and turn it until it's set. You're ready to roll
