The president actually has very little to do with leading the economy. He can only hope to block bills that are unfavorable.
As commander and chief of the armed forces, however, he can make a very big difference in the safety of the nation... The Bush administration has failed at recognizing the importance of that power once and it appears he's learned his lesson from the 911 tragedy that resulted.
I hope the others who follow Bush will remain aware of what has been learned.
Most important: Home security - without having it first, what good can favorable economics do? The others are unimportant. Rank them however you like.
I support no particular candidate at the moment, but I lean toward the Democrats, favoring their attitudes to move toward secularism and away from that of the religiously desirous.

1) That is a no brainer
3) Low taxes keep the economy going and the coffers full do to the increased revenue. Liberal hero JFK knew this, why is it a mystery to today's socialist.
6) Secret answer, secure the border for crying out loud. No country can exist without sovereignty, it is the most basic element having a country.
5) Although the President does not directly control this he can help foster it with sound economic policies and a positive relationship with the Fed Chairman.
4) Again the President does not push a button to control inflation but sound fiscal policy should do the trick.
2) Low taxes and a good economy will take care of unemployment. The employment situation looks good regardless of the gloom and doom spread by the media.

The best thing for THIS President to do is to leave, maybe destroy another baseball team or bankrupt another company or write a book on dog grooming. A President with a brain should try to (1) bring our countries finances in order again, (2) lift the ban on stem cell research, (3) allow gay people equal rights and marriage if they care to, (4) get out of Iraq, (5) get the profiteers out of the student loan system make it easier and cheaper for our population to get an education, (6) let even the middle class and poor have access to health care like a civilized nation that cares about its people, (7) become a country that now cares about our own people instead of making money for the few and undo all the Bush mistakes.

Your 'question' is rather more suitable of an insulting rant. the first situation is that you're starting up with a pretend assumption; by technique of all alerts, GWB is above well-known mind - regardless of the truth that admittedly no longer by technique of a lot. His clumsy speaking skills ought to no longer be taken as an illustration of stupidity. Secondly, you're falsely attempting to link mind with faith, that you obviously have some subject matters with. maximum human beings are Christians of a few style, and extensively various stages of devotion. Bush, for all his flaws, maximum likely managed to get elected by technique of gorgeous to problem-free American values; and because he had such poor competition. Al Gore is a real psychological defective, and Kerry is a bona fide traitor; and they are both even worse lairs than Bush. There are human beings i might want to really have as President, yet they have not been operating. Given a number of the turds you've top-rated you in Europe, with out delay ceding your sovereignty and rights to a quasi-Socialist tyranny and your subculture to Muslim invaders; i'd not be bragging about them if I were you. Europe has no longer elected an extremely first rate chief because Thatcher.

1, 4, 5, 2, 3... out of those...
I think health care and education are more important than all that, with the exception of preventing terrorist attacks...
Obama... he's the only Democrat that's talked about actually going after those that attacked us on 9-11 (Osama... and the only Rep that has mentioned it is McCain)... plus I think he's well aware of the serious issues with education and health care we have... and I think he can reach across the aisle and get things done, as he did in his time in congress...

1; 4; 3; 2; 5. Senator McCain is the only candidate who has been praised by both sides and I believe would reduce the gap between parties. His honesty is based on his experience facing some very unique issues very few could endure or understand. As a result of those issues he has a real sense of what truly important and what is just petty or insignificant.

For the current one--getting out of office!
Among your choices, I pick low/no unemployment. However, your list is extremely limited--choices 2 - 5 are all about economics--and there is no way I'd vote on one issue. Life is too complicated for that.
I disagree with boxed_ju. His/her statement that these are "equally important to every American" is disproved by me--an American who does not view all of these as equally important.

Three words:
secure the BORDERS, defend our LANGUAGE and protect our CULTURE.
I really don't give a flying panini in the sky about how Anna Nicole died, if K-Fed is a good father or where does Al Gore gets his hair done; I will give my vote to the candidate that will close down the borders, make English the mandatory language of this country and protects our traditional values; also, the one that will:
1) Stop abortion on demand
2) Eliminate fraud, waste and abuse in our government.
3) Reform the tax code
4) Eliminate our dependance on foreign sources of energy, including oil and promote alternative sources of energy (solar, hydro, wind, geothermal, E-85, etc...)
5) Eliminate welfare (replace it with a program that will force welfare recepients to work)
6) Improve the quality and accesibility of medical care for all.
Plus others...
If you cannot guarantee me that; then don't bother to sell me your talking points, regardless of your party affiliation; I do not vote for parties, I vote for candidates that will do the job and not bend over and spread cheeks to interest groups, who waste millios of dollars trying to get THEIR agendas through and not what's in the best interest of the nation as a whole.
Personally, I can't wait for Bush to GTFO of the White House and go write a book or something.

The primary purpose of any government is the defense of the nation from enemies both foreign and domestic.
Taxes should be at a minimum at all times.
All other issues should be at the discretion of the voter not the politician.

I support Ron Paul. I believe the best way to solve number 1 is to leave their region, let them fight their own wars and give them no reason to dedicate their life to killing us.
for the rest.....eliminate the federal reserve, back our money from something rather then nothing, and stop borrowing from other countries. this can only be accomplished by having a small federal government, and eliminating the unconstitutional federal programs that exist.
