I think the users who are coming down on this person need to take a step back and realize that #1- You really can't know what experiences like this are like unless you've been in such situations. And #2- Why is saying "yellow people" offensive? We say "black people" and "white people" all the time and it's generally accepted. Maybe the asker has no clue what nationalities or ethnicities these people are and is describing them the best way he/she can. Really, this PC mess is ridiculous.
Anyway, on to my answer....
I can totally relate to you (except that I'm not a foreigner here)... I live in an area that's almost completely half black and half white. However, it wasn't/isn't unusual to be assigned to classes that were/are comprised of mostly either black or white. It has never bothered me to be in the company of those different from me. But I've always been pestered by both "sides", particularly when one is in the majority. So it was really annoying when I was assigned to classes that were primarily black or white. Since society generally considers me to be white, students harassed me and pestered me with stupid "white people questions" when I was in the majority black classes. And, since I'm more culturally black than white, students harassed me and pestered me with stupid "black people questions" when I was in the majority white classes.
The best advice I can give is to continue trying to rise above the nonsense. I'm glad you have friends you can lean on.
Best of luck. ☺
(Oh, and just to be clear- What I said about the "yellow people" comment was NOT in reference to Pirate Queen, as what she said wasn't stated in a negative manner and made perfect sense.)

I live in a city that is located on the border of the United States and Mexico. Often, I was the only white girl in the classroom... and I was ALWAYS the only redhead! I never let it bother me, though.
Why do you call the other students yellow people? Are you sure you aren't the one who's causing the uneasiness you feel? Could you be misinterpreting what the "yellow people" say to you? You admit to getting irritated when they ask you questions and maybe you're deflecting your irritation onto them.
It's time to stop seeing the colors and judging people by what they look like. Does our ancestry define who we are as individuals? Or are we defined by our actions and words?
Instead of looking at them and seeing "yellow people", why don't you look at them and see just another human being. You may start seeing things differently.

I'm living and studying in a country different from my native. And for a couple of years, I've had been the only one from my country, in a class full of those locals. But, I guess it's quite different from your situation, because I'm still of the same race; same skin colour. So really, making friends with any of them is completely fine.
I know what you mean. It's quite the same over here. The different races most likely will just have close friends of the same race. Don't worry about it... it's like that almost anywhere. So as long as you've got your friends, no worries :D

Almost the whole time while I was in school I was the only one. I got used to it, It was kind of funny because white people accepted me while black people didn't. If you have friends and people that like you, don't worry about. People will sometimes have issues with other people who are different from them. You said you were a foreigner? Maybe they're just curious? I hope this helped, good luck

Story of my life.
I went to a predominantly white high school. I took a lot of honors classes and was often the only black person in all of my classes. I can recall it being the worst in AP Early American History. Chapter 10 was about slavery and the class decided I was going to be the expert for that day. Go figure.

this has happened to me twice...
1. i'm a teacher so i'm frequently the different one in the class. they are all young and i'm the older one!
2. while getting my masters, i went to an african american university. since i'm white, i was often the only one in the class. it was ackward at first, but i made friends that i still talk to today.
once you can look past the color of the skin, everyone is the same. good luck in getting past this small problem you are having.

It looks like you are hating here, my friend. Sometimes feeling like everybody hates you because of your race, is a sign of your own lack of self-esteem. But if they really hate you because you're different, then those people are not even worth your while.
