You have to take care of YOU first, because if you don't nobody else will.
Quit taking in strays and quit taking on other people's problems.
Pull back and consider your actions.
If helping other people wears you out, you need to stop and examine your motives.
Quit getting roped into junk you don't want to have anything to do with... just tell them you are sorry but you don't have time for it.

Well, you know what? I'm the same way, but there does have to be a balance. BUT....be very careful how you do it. You can take yourself too seriously, spend too much time on "yourself", and accidentally ignore the needs of your friends and loved ones in your search for "putting yourself first" and then all of a sudden find yourself alone. Putting yourself first might just mean accepting the fact that you DON'T put yourself first. THOSE are the people that others admire and want to be like. Those are the people that always have people around them that love them.

Easy, you just do it. If you don't no one else will. Also, you will find the things you do for others more gratifying because you won't always be feeling put out since you obviously do not get to accomplish the things you want for yourself.
