I don't think they can remake any of the old movies without it turning out to be bad. The remake of "The Thing" was a joke. The remake of "War of the Worlds" was, what can I say. The remakes of "King Kong" should have never been made. "Titanic" vs "A Night to Remember" you pick the best.
Hollywood should give up on remakes, unless they want to take the original screen play and remake the same movie using our new technology to do the special effects. Make the original over again, don't change anything.

It doesn't seem right, mainly when I think about a few old pictures that are real favourites. Maybe it can be good if the remakes were respectful to the originals and/or put the message of the pictures back out there, or encouraged people who wouldn't otherwise, to watch and/or know about the old classic pictures. I would rather see an old black and white classic remade today than having colour put into it. That is my opinion, anyway.

You can remake a film that wasn't done right in the first place (Black Cauldron), but you do not remake classics (King Kong)

I like remakes of old movies but not classic movies that should remain untouched.

Only IF they can offer a fresh perspective on the theme and not because:

1) lack of fresh ideas, or
2) they are banking off name of the original feature

The market is already full to capacity with substandard storylines because the studio exec's need something (anything) that would secure there over-the-top salaries and are unwilling to invest in projects with originality.

sometimes its ok but I think hollywood is loosing its touch, it seems now days its all remakes or bringing comic book characters to life. Hollywoods golden years are behind us.
